Observe the Sherpa villagers who live on the world’s tallest mountain, in addition to witnessing the majestic Everest peak itself. Trek through the Himalayas, away from modern amenities, and visit some of the remotest and oldest monasteries. Start from Lukla, following the Dudh Koshi river valley, to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazar at 3440 meters (11290 ft), which serves as the Everest region’s nerve center. Give yourself a day of rest to acclimatize at this point. After another two days of trekking, arrive at Dingboche, located at 4260 meters (13980 feet), before taking another day off to continue acclimatizing. It takes more than two days to get from Kala Patthar, at a height of 5545 meters, through Lobuche or Gorakshap to Everest base camp (18192 ft). This Everest Base Camp Trek is a thrilling experience that combines mountaineering, Nepal hiking, and the breathtaking beauty of the Everest mountain. It’s a journey to the iconic Everest Base Camp, where trekkers and mountaineers from all over the world gather to begin their journey to conquer the majestic Mount Everest peak.

Itinerary
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,850m/9,350 ft) & trek to Phakding ( 2650 m/8562 ft ) Duration: 5 hours.
- •Your adventure begins with an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, offering spectacular views of the Himalayan ranges. Upon arrival at Lukla, you’ll begin your trek with a gentle descent through the village of Chheplung. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, passing mani walls and suspension bridges until you reach the small riverside village of Phakding. Overnight at a lodge in Phakding
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,443 meters, 5–6 hours walk)
- •Today’s trek takes you along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. You'll enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where permits are checked and verified. The final ascent to Namche Bazaar is steep but rewarding, with the first distant glimpses of Mount Everest on clear days. Namche is the gateway to the Khumbu region and a vibrant Sherpa town with cafes, bakeries, shops, and mountain views. Overnight at a lodge in Namche.
Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar
- •To adjust to the altitude, today is a rest and acclimatization day. You can hike to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Alternatively, visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center. Enjoy the bustling atmosphere of Namche Bazaar, or simply rest. Overnight at a lodge.
Trek to Tengboche (3,820 meters, 5–6 hours walk)
- •The trail climbs out of Namche and contours along the mountainside with fantastic views of Everest and Ama Dablam. After descending to the Dudh Koshi River at Phunki Tenga, you’ll have a steep ascent through pine and rhododendron forest to reach Tengboche. Tengboche is famous for its beautiful monastery—the largest in the Khumbu region—set against a backdrop of towering Himalayan peaks. You may have the chance to witness a Buddhist ceremony. Overnight at a lodge.
Trek to Dingboche (4,230 meters, 4–5 hours walk)
- •After descending through forested trails, you'll cross the Imja Khola and pass through villages like Pangboche, which has the oldest monastery in the Khumbu. The views become more dramatic as you approach the open, windswept valley of Dingboche. This village is nestled among fields enclosed by stone walls, protecting barley and potatoes from the cold wind. Overnight at a lodge in Dingboche.
Trek to Lobuche (4,900 meters, 4–5 hours walk)
- •Today, the trail ascends gradually through alpine meadows and yak pastures to Thukla, where a steep climb leads you to a memorial site dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. From here, it’s a gentler trail to the small settlement of Lobuche, surrounded by massive peaks like Nuptse and Pumori. Overnight at a lodge.
Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters) – Return to Gorakshep (5,160 meters, 6–7 hours total)
- •Start early and follow the glacial trail to Gorakshep. After checking into your lodge, continue your trek to Everest Base Camp, walking alongside the Khumbu Glacier. The base camp area is filled with expedition tents during the climbing season. While you won't see Everest from base camp, you'll be standing at the foot of the world's highest peak. After spending time exploring, return to Gorakshep for the night.
Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 meters) – Trek to Pheriche (4,240 meters, 5–6 hours total)
- •Begin your day early with a sunrise hike to Kalapatthar, the best viewpoint for up-close panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and surrounding giants. After capturing the stunning Himalayan views, descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast. Then, trek down through Lobuche and continue toward Pheriche, a popular overnight stop with a health post and beautiful scenery. Overnight at a lodge.
Trek to Tengboche (3,820 meters, 4 hours walk)
- •Retrace your steps down the valley, passing through the alpine and rhododendron forests. You’ll reach Pangboche and continue down to cross the river again before climbing back up to the peaceful monastery village of Tengboche. You’ll have more time to explore the monastery or enjoy the serene mountain setting. Overnight at a lodge.
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,443 meters, 5–6 hours walk)
- •Descend through lush forests to Phunki Tenga and climb to Kyangjuma before contouring the hillside back to Namche. This is a great day to relax, do some shopping, or enjoy a warm shower and delicious food at one of Namche’s bakeries. Overnight at a lodge.
Trek to Lukla (2,827 meters, 3–4 hours walk)
- •The final day of your trek retraces the path through Monjo and Phakding, with a final ascent to Lukla. Enjoy your last evening in the mountains, celebrating the successful completion of your Everest Base Camp trek with your guide and team. Overnight at a lodge.
Fly Back to Kathmandu (35-minute flight)
- •Catch an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, once again enjoying the dramatic Himalayan views from the air. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and rest or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel.
