About Ramanagara (Ramadevara Betta / Sholay Hills)
Ramanagara is a world-renowned destination for rock climbing, characterized by its massive, rugged granite boulders and steep vertical faces. It gained global fame as the primary filming location for the Bollywood masterpiece Sholay, where it served as the hideout for the villain Gabbar Singh. The terrain offers everything from "bolted" sport climbing and traditional crack climbing to high-altitude ziplining.

Beyond its cinematic fame, Ramanagara's history spans the Ganga and Chola dynasties. The Ramadevara Betta hill is spiritually significant, believed to be a site visited by Lord Rama during his exile. In the world of adventure, it is pioneered as one of the oldest rock climbing spots in the country, attracting climbers from across the globe since the 1960s.

How to Reach
By Road: An easy 50 km drive from Bengaluru via the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway (NH275). By Train: Take a local train from Bengaluru to Ramanagara Railway Station, then a short auto-rickshaw ride to the base of Ramadevara Betta.
Important Notes
Wildlife: It is a protected sanctuary; do not play loud music or litter. Gear: Technical climbers must bring their own ropes, harnesses, and quickdraws unless they are part of a guided camp. Temple Etiquette: Wear appropriate clothing when visiting the temple at the summit.
