History & Significance

Dhakoba Fort: Built as a watch tower to guard vital trade routes! It monitored traffic from Vaishakhare to the ghat regions. Goods were shipped via Kalyan creek port.

Journey & Transport

How to Reach

Hike to the Fort: Start at Amboli village (via Junnar-Aptole). Follow the path behind the Lord Ganesh temple to Darya ghat. Look for a left diversion. Continue, keeping Darya ghat on your right, until you reach a cave and the Lord Dwarkeshwar temple. From here, it's ~2 hours to the base village (Goddess Durga temple). The final ascent to the fort is tricky, taking ~20 mins. Allow ~2 hours to reach Dhakoba from Durg fort.
