**Sarasgad Fort: Sentinel of Pali** **Key Details:** * **Location:** Borders of Pali. * **Nearby Pilgrimage:** Pali is home to Ballaleshwar, one of the eight 'Ashtavinayak' Ganesh temples (Lord Ganesh is the deity of knowledge). * **Historical Significance:** Shivaji Maharaj brought the fort under Swarajya and spent 2000 Hon for reconstruction. * **Past Role:** Primarily used to check surrounding regions (Pali and all areas visible from the fort). * **Last Ownership:** Remained under Bhor Sansthan until independence.

Explore Sarasgad: Trekkers' Favorite Spot! **Main Entrance:** Triple curtain wall. **Ramparts Path:** Go right from the entrance, ascend 15 steps. * **Water Tanks:** A large water tank is to the left. Nearby: 'Moti Haud' tank.**Base of Citadel:** * **Access:** Ascend 15 steps (right turn after Moti Haud). * **Sights:** Huge water reservoir, Shahapeer’s tomb (to the left), small lakes, 'Shivlinga' in a cavern (accommodates a few). * **Structures:** Silos, armory, jail, and residences (accommodates 10-12 people) are to the right of the reservoir.**Top of Citadel:** * **Temple:** Kedareshwar temple and a nearby lake. * **Defense:** Two bastions for watch. * **Views:** See 'Tin Kavdi' mountain, Sudhagad, Tailbaila, Dhangad, Korigad, Paligaon, River Amba, 'Unheri' hot water reservoirs, Konkan, and Jambhulpada.**Festivals:** * Shahapeer Festival: Vaishakh Poornima (full moon day). * Maha Shivratri: People visit Kedareshwar temple.

How to Reach
Access the fort ONLY via the 'Dindi Darwaza.' Alight at Pali. Go left from behind the temple; this path leads straight to the fort's bastion. At the base is the former guard residence. Ascend 96 steps to the main entrance, opposite the gatehouse.
