Palashi Fort: 16 bastions, 4 doors (2 large, 2 small). Enter via North/East doors. Note: Local population now lives within the fort, which has paved roads. The North door/bastions were repainted by villagers, altering the original look. Look for carved scriptures on the doors. Inside Highlights: * Stone Lord Shiva Temple: Find a Lord Hanuman sculpture at the back. Spot a large tortoise in front of the main hall and a Veerghal opposite the temple. * Palshikar Mansion: Owned by Mr. Ramrao Krishnarao Palshikar. Features beautiful carvings on doors/arches. Originally two-storied, now one floor remains (poorly maintained). Note the underground room (locked) and worshipping area. Wooden pillars have beautiful carvings; one first-floor pillar is palm tree-shaped. Two tenants currently reside here. * Ruins: See the ruins of another mansion (two walls remain, corners are notable). * Goddess Temple: A path between the mansions leads to this temple (Goddess has hooded King Cobra, Elephant, mace, and wheel). * Alley Finds: Near the Lord Shiva temple, spot a cannonball and two ancient stone lamp posts in the right alley.Outside East Door: Exit the East door (5 min walk from Shiva Temple via unpaved road). Two strong bastions flank this door. * River Palashi: Bank is nearby. Cross the door/river bank to find: * Lord Vitthal Temple: Inside a fortified wall, huge entrance door, Naagar architectural style. Adjacent small water tank. * Lord Shiva Temple: Located across the river bank.Total visit time (fort & temples): Approx. 1 hour.
