History & Significance
Built in 1737 by Gerald Aungier, Governor of Mumbai. Original purpose: Watch Portuguese island Salshet & Mithi River. Locally known as Kala Killa (Black Fort) due to black stone construction. Part of Mumbai's northern defense, along with Mahim, Riwa, and Sion forts.

History & Access Alert! Built in 1737, remnants show the ramparts and a stone inscription. CAUTION: The fort is encroached and in poor plight with garbage inside. Access requires climbing an 8-foot-tall wall; there is no direct way. Inside, you can spot the entrance, stairs, and "Fanji."

How to Reach
Located on the Sion West side. Walk ~10 mins on the Sion-Bandra Link Road. Turn right onto Kala Killa Lane; the fort is at the end!
