About Sandhan Valley
Sandan Valley: A natural gem in the Western Ghats (Sahyadri) near Karoli Ghat. Heavy rainfall led to strong water flow, eroding rocks over centuries and creating beautiful natural caves. Giant rocks add to its beauty. Watch for cracks in rocks—they form when hot summer rocks meet cold raindrops. The river is 7-8 wide, but rocks sometimes stick out overhead.

History & Significance
The valley is a naturally formed geological canyon shaped by water erosion over centuries. It has become a popular adventure destination in the Sahyadris in recent decades.
Places to See
Sandan Valley: Valley of Shadows (10 min from Samrad). Start with a cave walk; expect neck-deep water after monsoons. The river is 10' wide with 150' high rock patches! See beautiful natural structures as rocks merge. 30 min trek to the edge offers a splendid rock view. Descend to the base (1-1.5 hr) and tackle the 45ft rock patch via rappelling. Further rappelling needed for two more 8-9' tall rocks. Navigate huge wall-like rock gaps (descend one person at a time, use ropes for bags). After 4-5 hours of rock patches, reach a plain surface with a heavenly view. Night halt spot: where the river meets the pond (view Arrow Pinnacle). Descend the hill to reach the pond. 15 min walk to a small pond leads to Karoli Ghat/Worpad Dhangarwadi. Karoli Ghat: From the Sandan Valley pond, 15 min walk to the river bed. Climb the hill (2-3 hrs) back to Samrad. During the climb, view a replica of Konkan Kada (Harish Chandra Gad), Ajoba Hill, and Seeta Palna. After 2 rock patches, reach Samrad Plateau; view Ratangad and Khutta Pinnacle. 15 min from the plateau to Samrad Village. Ajoba Fort Base: From Worpad Dhangarwadi (2 hrs walk from Sandan Valley exit), a 30 min motor road ride reaches Dehane Village (Ajoba Fort base).
