About Satavali Fort
Satavali Fort: Small Coastal Watchtower! Located in Ratnagiri District, this Coastal Fort (Height: 64, Grade: Easiest) was primarily for vigilance, opposite the Muchkundi river. Though dilapidated, this watch fort has five bastions and less than half an acre coverage. Key Highlights: * Cannon displayed at the beautiful wooden-structured Vitthal-Rakhumai temple courtyard. (Visit both in \~1 hour).Historical Fact: After Afzal Khan's slaying, Sardar Doroji was sent by Shivaji Maharaj to capture Satavali Fort. Later, British records show officer Gifford was held here, and the fort fell to the British in 1818.

Satavli Fort sits opposite the Muchkundi river, originally small for vigilance. Due to poor construction (stones placed one upon another), walls and bastions are currently ruined. **Highlights:** * A huge tree and well mark the entrance, flanked by two dilapidated bastions. * Behind the tree, find a carved stone resembling a temple pillar fragment. * Explore remnants of old structures. * Five bastions are present but unreachable due to dense vegetation. * Near the village approach, spot Veerghals, Satighals, and idols on a raised platform. * A canon is displayed near the Vitthal-Rakhumai temple.

How to Reach
**Getting Here:** Satavli is just 18 km from Lanja, a major town on the Mumbai-Goa highway. Regular buses run from Lanja (more frequent) and Rajapur. **Fort Access:** A road goes from Lanja via Satavli to Nate village (Yashwantgad) and Ambolgad fort. From the village opposite Satavli school, the road leads to the fort entrance in 5 minutes. **Trip Idea:** Using a private vehicle, you can visit Satavli, Yashwantgad (Nate), Ambolgad, and Purnagad forts in a single day. **Overnight Stay:** Consider Ratnagiri for overnight accommodation.
