About Udgir
Udgir: Ancient 'Udaygiri'/'Udakgiri' in Latur district, Balaghat range. Mentioned in Puranas, it's a land fort near the Lendi river's origin. Famous for the 1760 Battle of Udgir, won by Sadashivbhau Peshave against Nizam. Remained with Nizam of Hyderabad until India's independence, which is why its remains are largely intact today.
