History & Significance
Built on a natural elevation on the Thal coast. Key offshore base (1659) for Shivaji Maharaj's construction of Khanderi fort. Purpose: Protection against British and Siddis. Conquered by Siddi in 1749. Manaji Angre recaptured it in 1750 (200 Siddi killed). Abandoned due to vulnerability; base moved to Colaba fort of Alibaug.

Only fragments of the fort walls remain today. No other ruins are visible.
