About Padmagad (Malvan)

Shivaji Maharaj built Padmagad, Rajkot, and Sarjekot to defend Sindhudurga. Padmagad stands on a rock between Malvan sea shore and Sindhudurga, protecting the route. This rock was carved into a dock for ship construction/repair. Access: Before the Tsunami, you could walk to Padmagad at low tide!

Fort Highlights: Main entrance intact, faces Sindhudurga. Ramparts/bastions destroyed. Features a dry well and a Vetal temple (local flags on the front bastion). Maratha architects cleverly modified the surrounding rock to build a dock here.

Journey & Transport
