About Pimpla

Pimpla Fort (also Kandala/Kandana) is located in Kalwan taluka, Nashik district. Famous for its two needle holes—one is Maharashtra's biggest! Base village: Malgaon Budruk (not Pimpla village).

Places to See

**Reaching the Fort: 3 Ways\!** Choose your route: Pimpla, Malgaon, or Vatode village. **Malgaon Route (Easiest & Most Used):**1. From the village's main road, walk 15 mins to the small dam (private vehicles welcome\!). 2. Follow the path next to the dam, then take the left turn where the dam wall meets the path to reach the mountain ridge. 3. Hike 30 mins to a flat ground. See Pimpla fort\! 4. Walk 15 mins to the base of the fort hill. 5. Hike a steep 15 mins to the East-West rock wall. Turn right onto the path below it (mountain on left, valley on right). 6. Reach the junction of two rock walls. The **Needle Eye** is next to it on the South-North rock wall. 7. A steep path leads to the Needle Eye. Takes \~1 hr 30 mins from the base.**Needle Eye Highlights:** * 3 rock-cut water tanks below and to the right. * Natural cave above (may become another Needle Eye due to erosion). * Experience amazing views and soothing winds\!**Ascend the Fort:** * Pass the Needle Eye and go left where the two rock walls meet—this is the ascent route. * At the top: See Salher fort\! You'll also find 3 dried rock-cut water tanks.**Return Loop/Other Features:** * Cross the Needle Eye again for a route that circles the two rock walls back to the Needle Eye. * On this loop, see a wall with cement plaster, a goddess painting, and a carved scripture. * The path from Pimpla village joins here.

How to Reach

**Getting Here: Base Village Malgaon** Reach Nashik first, then choose one of two routes to the base village, Malgaon:1. **Nashik - Vani Dindori Road:** Take the Nanduri - Kanashi - Chinchpada route. (238 kms) 2. **Nashik - Satana Road:** Reach Kalwan via Devla, then find transport to Malgaon. (250 kms)**Trek Routes to the Fort**1. **Pimpla Village:** Long trek (approx. 3 hrs 30 mins). Cross a hill and an open plateau. The fort is not visible initially. 2. **Vatode Village:** Takes about 3 hours. Buses available from Satana to Vatode. 3. **Malgaon:** Quickest route\! Takes about 2 hours.
