About Tung
Don't let the name fool you: the trek to Tung Fort (Kathingad) is surprisingly easy! Built to guard the Pavan Maval region, this fort was key for watching transport along Bor Ghat. From here, easily spot Lohgad, Visapur, and Pavan Maval. Also known as Tung Tungi (Karjat).

History & Significance
Key History: Though less significant, this fort joined Swarajya with other Maval region forts in 1657. Netaji Palkar was appointed protection in 1660. In 1665, Jaysingh invaded. Dilerkhan attacked Tung & Tikona villages but failed to conquer the forts. The fort was taken over on June 18th, 1665, by Kubadkhan, Halalkhan, and others, as per the Treaty of Purandar (signed June 12th, 1665).

Quick 1-Hour Fort Visit! The path starts past the Maruti temple, leading up steps to Hanuman Mandir. Main Fort Entrance is next to Hanuman Mandir. Inside: * Ganesh Mandir (Right Side) * Water Trench (Backside) * Citadel, featuring the Tung Devi temple. out the small ground cave opposite Tung Devi temple (fits 2-3 people). This is a great one-day trek!

How to Reach
**Reach the Fort** All trails start from the base village, **Tungvadi**. 45 mins to the top. Allow 1 hour to explore the fort. **Option 1: From Lonavala**1. Get off at **Lonavala station**. 2. Board a bus for **Bhamburde** or **Ambavne**. 3. Alight at **Ghusalkhamb**. 4. Trek 1.5 hrs (8 km) to **Tungvadi**.**Option 2: From Tikona Peth** * **Bus:** Take the **Kamshet-Morve bus** from **Tikona Peth** at **11 a.m.** Get off at **Tungvadi stop**. Reaches Tungvadi in 45 mins. * **Trek Combo (Tung & Tikona):** Trekkers often visit **Tikona** first. From **Tikona Peth**, head towards **Kale Colony**. * **Via Water:** From **Bramhnoli village**, take a launch to **Kevre gaon**. **Tungvadi** is 20 mins from here.
