History & Significance
Fort Hadsar: AKA Parvatgad. Built by the Satvaahanas to control the Naneghat trade route near Ahmednagar (Nagar). Key history: Exchanged in the 1637 Shahaji Raje-Mughal treaty. Conquered by British forces in 1818, after which its main features were demolished.
Places to See
Explore Hadsar Fort’s Hidden Gems! Start at the stunning medieval entrance gates: Twin doors in a tunnel, rock-carved steps, and the unique "Gomukhi" construction. Inside, the path splits: one leads uphill, the other to the second gate. Pass the second gate to find a cistern with potable water. Nearby are three huge, rock-carved stores (not for stay) and rock images of Lord Ganesh. To the right, discover a big pond with a Mahadeo Temple (six-cornered hall) and a huge Nandi. The temple features idols of Lord Ganesh, Garuda (Eagle), and Lord Hanuman. The pond fills completely in monsoon and has a stonewalled structure at its center. Adjacent is a strong bastion. Below, find a sand-filled cistern. Proceed to a carved-out surveying cave, offering a splendid view of the Manikdoh dam and the full range of Chavand, Naneghat, Shivneri, Bhairavgad, and Jeevdhan.

How to Reach
**Reaching Hadsar Fort** Two main ways to reach Hadsar Fort, both starting from Hadsar village: the Royal Entrance and the Villagers' Carved Steps. **Getting to Hadsar Village:** From Junnar, take any bus to Nimgiri, Rajur, or Kewada (approx. 45 mins). **Route 1: The Villagers' Path (More Challenging)**1. Ascend from Hadsar village, passing a well. 2. Go left on the plateau. After 15 mins, spot a pass between two hillocks. 3. Head straight for the pass to reach the bastion in about 30 mins. 4. A simple rock climb leads to the fort entrance. (Look for two water cisterns on the way.)**Route 2: The Royal Approach (Simpler)**1. Instead of heading toward the pass, circumvent the hill to the left. 2. Reach the other side of the hill. 3. Take the approximately 150 steps up to the main entrance in the pass.
