History & Significance
Amalner Fort's History: Origin Unknown. In AD 1818, Madhavrao (Peshwa's rep) planned to surrender the fort to the British. Ali Jamadaar and his Arab Battalion resisted. Col Haskins brought Bhill troops and besieged the fort from the riverside. British forces cut off supplies (food/gunpowder) sent from Bahadurpur. Ali Jamadaar and his troops attempted escape via the riverfront but were arrested.
