**Fort Highlights (Approx. 1 Hour Visit)** * **Access:** 10 mins walk from Mukaidevi base village temple to rock-cut steps, plus 10 mins to the fort entrance. * **Hills & Temples:** Two small hills flank the doorway. * **Left Hill:** Visit Goddess Hastamata Temple (highest point, frequently visited). The ancient temple is below the new structure. Main hall features Tandala stone carving and Hastamata idol. * **Left Path from Temple Route:** Leads to rock-cut water tanks. * **Nearby Temple Route:** See remnants of a mansion with stones carved with Sharabh and a door-strip with a small Lord Ganesh idol. * **Other Side:** Head to the opposite hill (valley on left, hill on right). * **Narayan Tank:** Pillared water tank on this route. * **Hidden Doorway:** Keep descending; may need a local guide due to dense vegetation. * **Water Tanks:** Near the main entrance (hill on left, valley on right), find a group of five water tanks. * **Fortification:** On the return, find another tank above the steps and remnants of the fortification wall.

**How to Reach the Fort Base Village (Mukaidevi Temple)** First, reach Alefata via Kalyan or Malshej. Two routes from Alefata lead to the base: **Route 1 (Shortest from Mumbai):** * From Alefata, turn onto the road to Pune. * After 2 km, cross the new toll booth and the bridge over the Kukdi river. * Immediately turn left onto the unpaved canal road. * This joins the road from Narayangaon and leads to Mukaidevi Temple. * **Distance:** 16 km from Alefata. * **Warning:** Mostly unpaved; AVOID this route during the rainy season.**Route 2 (Recommended/Rainy Season Option):** * Reach Narayangaon from Alefata. * Take the road opposite the S.T. stand towards Khodad village. * At the 9 km junction: * Straight: Khodad village * Left: Mukaidevi Temple via Gadachiwadi village. * **Distance:** 10.5 km from Narayangaon to Mukaidevi Temple. * **Alternative:** Take a bus from Narayangaon toward Khodad, get off at the junction, and walk \~30 minutes to the base village temple.
