About Nimgiri
**Balaghat Range Highlights** This Sahyadri range spans Pune, Nagar, and Nashik districts, hosting many forts and ghats. **Key Sites:** Malshej, Daryaghat, Naneghat, Sakurdighat, Harishchandragad, Kunjargad, Pabargad, Kallagad, Nimgiri, Hadsar, Bhairavgad. **Nimgiri Fort:** Directly opposite Harishchandragad. Famous for its rock-cut stairs. **Nimgiri & Hanumantgad:** Separated by a cleft. Allow \~4 hours to visit both.

Places to See
Start your ascent between Nimgiri and Hanumantgad (separated by a cleft). Head towards the electric tower (past the primary school). Highlights: * **Artifacts & History:** Pass broken farms, see a beautiful idol, temple remains, a water tank, many idols, Veerghals, and carved scriptures. * **Caves & Watchposts:** Look for a cave built for watch-keeping (visible from Hanumantgad, currently inaccessible). Near the devastated entrance, find a cave for fort keepers. * **Water & Worship:** The fort trail starts right. Find 4 water tanks total (only 1st tank has potable water). See the Goddess Gajalakshmi temple and three shrines further up. Discover 5 caves, one accommodating 5-6 people (the last cave has a tank/room). * **Summit:** Ascend the uppermost hill to see remains of mansions/houses. Enjoy views of the citadels of Harishchandrgaad fort, Chavand fort, and Tolarkhind. * **Overnight Stay:** The Goddess Kalubai temple (right of the Veerghals) is available for overnight stays. Two Veerghals are behind the temple.

How to Reach
Getting There: Bus from Kalyan-Murbad: Take an S.T. bus toward Alephata or Junnar. From Pune: Must take a bus to Junnar. By Vehicle:1. Cross Malshej ghat. 2. 2 km after the ghat is Khubi fata junction. 3. 4 km further is Velkhind. 4. At the end of Velkhind is Pargaon village. 5. Take a right from Pargaon to Khandipada (7 km) via Borwadi-Madh. This road also leads to Hadsar fort.Via Junnar: Reach Nimgiri village (1 km walk to Khandipada). Ascend Details (Starts between Nimgiri and Hanumantgad):1. Head toward the electric tower across from the primary school ground. 2. Pass an old tree with a Lord Hanuman idol and 42 Veerghals. 3. After 30 min toward the cleft, see caves on the right hill. 4. Rock-cut steps begin here (some broken; rope advised). 5. Alternatively, a route with many turns goes into the cleft in 15 min. 6. Hanumantgad is to the left of the cleft, Nimgiri is to the right.
