About Badami Sport Climbing
Badami is famous for its striking red sandstone cliffs that surround the Agastya Lake. While famous for its 6th-century Cave Temples, the real treasure for explorers lies in the "crags" (climbing faces). The sandstone here is high-quality and "grippy," making it a favorite for international climbers. 🧗 The Climbing Experience Terrain: Red Sandstone. Difficulty: Routes range from 5a to 8b+ (Beginner to Pro). Key Crags: * Ganesha Wall: Great for beginners and intermediate climbers. Deluxe Wall: Known for some of the most iconic sport climbing routes in India. Temple Area: Offers bouldering opportunities. Style: Primarily Sport Climbing (bolted routes), but there is immense potential for Traditional (Trad) Climbing and Bouldering.

History & Significance
While the cliffs have stood for millions of years, the sport was pioneered in the 1990s by legendary German climber Kurt Albert. Since then, a mix of international and local Indian climbers (like Ravi Anna and Ganesha Waddar) have continued to bolt new lines, putting Badami on the global climbing map.

Ensure your bolts and hangers are in good condition; some older routes may have weathered hardware. Safety: Sandstone can be brittle; wearing a helmet is highly recommended. Respect: Many crags are near active temples; avoid climbing during major religious festivals and maintain silence.
