Places to See
Get to the fort base by any vehicle. Find Bhimsen Kuwara's temple next to the parking lot/lake. Folklore says Bhimsen reached here in three steps (first near the stream, second near the square well). Cross the stream to start the climb. The path is a zigzag/circular ascent to the hill. A steep 15-minute climb leads to the square-shaped bastion (built with stacked rocks). Reach the fort summit in 5 more minutes! At the summit: See the vermillion-covered Bhimsen Kuwara rock and a Shiv Ling. Other sights: A small pothole (once year-round water, now dried up) is right of the temple. Further down the unpaved path, find parallel bastions and fortified walls. Historical entrance: The Queen's Quarters (ancient main entrance) is below the fort and is now under dam water. Access it via a boat available from the parking lot.
