About Bhrigu Lake
The Bhrigu Lake Trek is celebrated for its sweeping, majestic alpine meadows (bugyals) that appear almost immediately on the first day, a rarity in the Himalayas where such meadows usually take days of hiking to reach. The trail climbs rapidly from the tree line into open, undulating green pastures where wild horses graze. The ultimate destination is the pristine, high-altitude Bhrigu Lake, nestled in a glacial hollow. The lake famously changes color with the seasons and the shifting sunlight, ranging from emerald green to deep blue, surrounded by panoramic views of massive peaks like Hanuman Tibba and the Seven Sisters.

Journey & Transport
How to Reach
To the Hub: Arrive in Manali via overnight bus from Delhi or Chandigarh. • To the Base (Start): From Manali, hire a taxi for a 22 km drive towards the Rohtang Pass road. Get off at the Gulaba checkpost, which serves as the trailhead. • The Return: After visiting the lake, trekkers generally descend back to the Rola Kholi campsite and retrace their steps down to Gulaba, where a pre-arranged taxi takes them back to Manali.
Important Notes
Acclimatization: The rapid gain in altitude makes Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) a significant risk on this trek. Do not rush the ascent, and ensure you are hydrating constantly. • Weather: High-altitude weather is highly volatile here. Whiteouts and sudden rain/snow showers are common near the lake, so summit attempts must begin very early in the morning. • Connectivity: Network coverage is patchy to non-existent once you start the trek from Gulaba. Nearby police station: Manali Police Station Nearby hospitals: Civil Hospital Manali, Lady Willingdon Hospital Manali
