About Narayangad(Amboli)

Narayangad Fort (Amboli): Opposite "Kaavlesaad" point in Amboli. Built to guard the Paarpoli ghat trade route and served as an Octroi collection center. Few locals from Gele village know its history. The route from Gele is straightforward with slopes through a dense forest (watch for wild animals). Perfect for an off-beat Amboli adventure!

Best time to visit

Avoid Monsoon Season.

History & Significance

Built by Anasaheb Fond Sawant of Sawantwadi.

Places to See

Fort Highlights: * **Remnants:** Few remains exist (Goddess Sateri Devi temple, sculpted stones, house ruins). * **Views:** See Manohar-Mansantoshgad (West) and Kalesaad point (East). * **North View:** Spot three pinnacles on Gangotri Laginvaada. The highest is Mhataricha gunda; the others are Navara and Navari. * **Location:** Separated from the main range by a valley. * **Alternate Route:** Climb the opposite mountain to find two dense forest shrines: * **Lingi:** Features a Shiv linga and a Nadndi. * **Mhartaal:** Open-air idols. * **Safety Tip:** Dense forest cover\! A route guide is strongly advised.
