About Dundha

Baglaan Range's Lesser-Known Forts: Dundha, Karha, Bishtha, Ajmera are smaller forts in Nashik district. Historical data is scarce. Likely used as watchtowers due to their location away from the main range. Locals call one site Dundheshwar Maharaj's mountain, hosting a village fair every Monday of the Shravan lunar month.

Places to See

Start your trek at the Dundheshwar Maharaj temple in the base village. The route climbs through a thick forest. Just 10 minutes in, find rock-carved stairs leading to a Lord Shiva temple under two huge trees. Note: The small water tank behind this temple is NOT potable. Facing the Shiva temple, look right for the house of Ramdas Maharaj. A path past this house leads to two rock-built water tanks with POTABLE water. Continuing this path, you'll find a larger 10ft x 5ft tank (often covered in green algae) after circling half the mountain. The path ends here; return to the Shiva temple. From the Shiva temple (facing it), take the path to your left. This leads to another rock-built water tank. The path ends here; return to the Shiva temple. Behind the Shiva temple, another route takes you to the fort top for panoramic views of the surrounding area.
