About Bhavanigad
Bhavanigad Fort: 12 km north of Sangameshwar town (on the old Mumbai-Goa Highway). Features a large temple dedicated to Goddess Bhavani, attracting many annual pilgrims.

History & Significance
Ancient fort with limited history, believed built in the 14th century. Key moments: Shivaji Maharaj renovated it in 1661 and built the Bhavani Mata temple. The British claimed it in 1818.
Places to See
Start in Kadvai village. The trail to the fort passes through communities: Mhadgewadi, Gosaviwadi, and Shirkewadi. The path splits; take the right trail to the top. After a steep 5-min walk, you'll find cisterns. Continue to the main entrance and the Main Temple (great accommodation!). Inside: a bust of Shivaji Maharaj and an ancient Goddess Bhavani idol. This is the Citadel. Behind the temple entrance, the trail leads to the southern tip, featuring more cisterns.

How to Reach
How to Reach the Fort Take the diversion to Tural village: 11 km north of Sangameshwar (Mumbai-Goa highway). From Tural, continue to: * Kadvai (by rickshaw) * Mhadgewadi (by private vehicle)The trail starts from there. ST buses run regularly. The fort is just 2 km from Mhadgewadi!

Epic 2-3 Day Road Trip! (Private Vehicle) Day 1: Explore Mahimatgad, Baleshwar temple, and Sambhaji Maharaj Samadhi (Sangameshwar Kasba). Stay at Bhavanigad. Day 2: Travel from Bhavanigad to Govindgad (near Chiplun).
