History & Significance
A dramatic history! Portuguese held it until 1739 when the Marathas seized it, along with Dahanu, Kelve, and Tarapur forts. The British took control in 1818.

How to Reach
**Getting There: Palghar Fort Base**1. **To Palghar Station:** Take a shuttle or mail train from Virar (Western Railway's last station). 2. **To "Masjid" Stop:** Catch a Satpati road bus from Palghar (runs every 30 mins) or hire an auto-rickshaw. Travel time is \~15 mins. 3. **To Fort Base:** It’s a 10-minute walk from the "Masjid" stop. A school is located at the base.
