Hatgad Fort: Overlooking Surgana taluka, this fort marks the start of the Sahyadris' eastern range (Saatmal range). Note: It branches off the main mountain range.

Fort Highlights: **First Doorway Area (Dilapidated):** * Find a rock-cut water tank and a carved Lord Hanuman sculpture to the right. * Two scriptures are carved in rock nearby. * Only pillars remain of the doorway.**Second Doorway:** * Rock-carved, tunnel-shaped (similar to Harihar Fort entrance). * Adjacent cave holds three water tanks.**Journey to the Top (Approx. 1 Hour):** * Pass the third and fourth doorways. * **Left of Fourth Doorway:** Descending path reveals a well-preserved fortification wall and a tombstone. * **Right of Fourth Doorway:** Find a water tank and an arch structure. * **Above Fourth Doorway:** Another water tank.**Summit Area:** * Remnants of a mansion and a bastion structure. * Water pond (non-potable water). * Opposite the pond is the vast plateau with an intact fortified wall. * Flag pole located above the pond. * Path from here leads to another bastion and many water tanks.

How to Reach
**Getting There (Approx. 1 hour trek):**1. Reach Nashik, then take the Nashik-Saputara highway. 2. 74 km from Nashik, turn towards Borgaon (follow the route to Saputara, not Surgana). 3. Hatgadwadi village (4 km from Borgaon) is the base. 4. From Hatgadwadi, take the tar road to Kalvan village (keep Hatgadwadi on your left). 5. Look for a dried-up well on your left. 6. 5 mins past the well, take the off-road path on the left to reach the mountain ridge. 7. 15 mins walk to a Mango tree, then follow the diagonal path to the fort.
