About Kamet Peak

Kamet Peak is the second-highest mountain in India and one of the most prominent peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas. It is known for its massive bulk, glaciated slopes, and demanding climbing routes, making it a coveted objective for elite mountaineers.

History & Significance

Kamet was first successfully climbed in 1931 by a British expedition led by Frank Smythe, Eric Shipton, R.L. Holdsworth, and Lewa Sherpa. It was the highest peak climbed in the world at that time.

How to Reach

Reach Joshimath by road from Rishikesh or Dehradun → travel to Mana Village → trek and glacier approach to base camp → technical climb via expedition route
