About Kote Betta

Kote Betta, translating to "Fort Hill," is the third-highest peak in the Coorg district. It offers a highly scenic and much quieter trekking experience compared to the popular Tadiandamol. The trail winds through sprawling private coffee estates and spice plantations before entering a dense Shola forest and finally emerging onto a sweeping, grassy ridgeline.

Best time to visit

October, November, December, January, February, March

History & Significance

According to local folklore, the Pandavas spent a portion of their exile on this very hill. It is believed they built several stone structures here, and the name "Fort Hill" derives from the natural fort-like appearance of the peak and these mythological ruins.

Places to See

The Shiva temple at the top, the massive overhanging rocks, dense coffee plantations, and panoramic views of the Harangi Dam backwaters and the Pushpagiri range on a clear day.
