Madangad: One of the Toughest Sahyadri Treks! This old, impregnable fort is best visited between December-January. Part of the Alang Maddan Kulang combo.

Small Fort, Big Views! Area is smaller than neighboring Alang & Kulang. Find 2 water tanks (water until Feb) and a cave fitting 15-20 trekkers. Explore the entire fort in just 30 mins! Scenic view includes: Alang, Kulang, Chota Kulang, Ratangad, Ajyagad, Katrabai, Dangya Pinnacle, Harihar, and Tryambakeshwar.

How to Reach

**Conquering Madangad Fort: Your 2 Route Options** Both routes meet at the ridge between **Alanggad** and **Madangad**. **Route 1: Via Ambewadi**1. **First Stop:** Igatpuri or Kasara. 2. **ST Bus Service:** Take the Igatpuri/Kasara – Ghoti – Pimpalnermor – Ambewadi route. ST buses also run Ghoti to Ambewadi (32 Kms). 3. **Bus Tip:** The first ST bus from Ghoti to Ambewadi leaves at **6:00 a.m.** 4. **Viewpoint:** See forts **Alang, Kulang, and Madan** from Ambewadi village. 5. **Trek to Ridge:** The route to the Alang/Madan ridge is steep and exhausting, taking \~3 hours. 6. **Ridge :** Alang is on your left, Madan on your right. Turn right for Madangad. 7. **Final Ascent:** Navigate steps carved in the rock, followed by a steep \~40-foot climb to the upper route. **Rock-climbing techniques required\!** A safety bolt is fixed mid-patch. 8. **Summit:** After the climb, the path leads directly to the water tank on top.**Route 2: Via Ghatghar**1. **Route:** Go via Ghoti - Bhandardara – Ghatghar. 2. **Trek Time:** Takes 4 hours to reach the Alang/Madan ridge from Ghatghar.

Important Notes

Needs artificial rock climbing. Approach features rock patches, requiring essential rock climbing gear and experienced climbers.
