About Netravati Peak
Often overshadowed by its famous neighbor Kudremukh, Netravati Peak is a rising star in Karnataka's trekking scene. It offers a quieter but equally breathtaking experience with endless rolling Shola grasslands, deep valleys, and mist-laden trails. The trail provides an intimate escape into the pristine wilderness of the Western Ghats.

History & Significance
The peak is deeply revered as the origin point of the Netravati River, which is considered the "lifeline of Dakshina Kannada" before it flows into the Arabian Sea at Mangalore.
Places to See
The cascading two-tiered waterfalls on the trail, the "false peak" viewpoint, the river's origin point, and the sweeping ridge walk that provides panoramic views of the surrounding ranges.
Journey & Transport
How to Reach
By Road: Drive from Bangalore or Mangalore to Kalasa. From Kalasa, take local transport to Samse. At Samse, you must hire a local 4x4 forest jeep to reach the actual trek starting point near Mullodi/Samse estate.
Important Notes
Permits: Forest permission must be secured in advance. Plastic-Free Zone: Zero-tolerance policy for littering; guards often check bags to ensure all plastic is brought back down. Leeches: Widespread during the monsoon and post-monsoon months; carry salt or wear leech socks. Facilities
- StayPitching tents on the peak or along the trail is strictly prohibited by the forest department. Trekkers must stay at homestays or dormitories in the base villages (Samse, Mullodi, or Kalasa).
- FoodThere are no food stalls or vendors on the trail. You must carry a packed lunch and snacks provided by your homestay before starting the trek.
- WaterNatural forest streams are available along the route where bottles can be refilled, but starting with at least 2 liters of water per person is highly recommended.
