Padmadurg Fort is a sea fort built on an island off the Konkan coast near Murud. Constructed to counter the naval dominance of the Siddis of Janjira, the fort stands as a strategic maritime structure surrounded by the Arabian Sea.

History & Significance

Padmadurg was built in 1676 by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to challenge the influence of the Siddis of Janjira. It served as a naval outpost and defensive stronghold during the Maratha naval expansion.
