About Rajmachi
Rajmachi Fort: 15km NW of Lonavla! Strategically positioned in the Sahyadris (Ulhas River Valley, starting Lonavla-Khandala range), it guarded the vital Bor Ghat trade route connecting Kalyan & Naalasopara ports to Pune. This powerful military spot overlooks Mavaal (Tung, Tikona, Lohagad, Visapur forts) and Bhimashankar regions (Peth, Dhak, Gorakhgad, Chanderi, Siddhagad forts). Its two citadels function as independent forts! Rajmachi is a highly popular twin-fort complex (Shrivardhan and Manaranjan) nestled deep in the Sahyadris. It is surrounded by dense forests and offers sweeping panoramic views of the Ulhas River valley, Duke's Nose, and the sheer cliffs of the Western Ghats. It is a favorite weekend getaway for nature lovers, beginners, and seasoned trekkers alike.
