About Tadiandamol Peak

Tadiandamol is the highest peak in the Coorg district and the third-highest in Karnataka. The trail is renowned for its thick Shola forests, sprawling grasslands, and fragrant coffee estates. It provides a spectacular, accessible alpine escape into the misty highlands of the Western Ghats.

History & Significance

The trek starts near the historic Nalaknad Palace, a two-story structure built in 1792 by the Haleri king Dodda Veerarajendra, which served as a final refuge for the Kodagu kings before the British takeover.

How to Reach

By Road: Drive to Madikeri, then proceed about 40 km to Kakkabe/Yevakapadi. * By Bus: Take a KSRTC bus to Virajpet or Madikeri, then take local transport to Kakkabe. The trek officially begins near Nalaknad Palace.

Important Notes

Permits: A forest department entry fee is required at the base check-post. Leeches: The forested sections are prone to leeches during and right after the monsoon, so proper footwear and precautions (like salt or leech socks) are essential. Facilities

  • StayPitching tents on the peak is not permitted by the forest department. Visitors must stay at homestays or resorts at the base in Kakkabe.
  • FoodThere are no food stalls once the trail begins. Trekkers need to carry a packed lunch and snacks from their base stay.
  • WaterFresh mountain streams are available in the initial forest sections, but it is highly recommended to carry at least 2 liters of water from the start.
