Vardhangad Fort: Witness to History! Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj once stayed here. Location: Mahadev hill range, on the Koregaon Khatav taluka border (junction of Bhandlikundal). Distances: 7 miles from Koregaon; 17 miles NE of Satara. Note: Vulnerable to attacks from adjacent Lalgun & Rameshwar hills. Don't miss: The well-known Goddess Vardhanimata Temple (frequently visited by villagers).

**Fort Highlights (1 hour visit):** Entrance faces east, built in Gomukhi style. Find the flag post and a secret chamber left of the entrance. Climb the small raised hill (15 min) via steps. Along the way, see a dilapidated Lord Hanuman idol, a Lord Shiva temple, and a water tank. At the top is the Goddess Vardhanimata Temple (large hall, front platform). Descend behind the temple to find another water tank on the right.

How to Reach
**Getting to Vardhangad Fort** Approach via Satara or Phaltan. * From Satara: The village is 30 km on the Satara-Pandharpur route. * From Phaltan: * Route 1: Phaltan-Molghat-Pusegaon (41 km) + 7 km to Vardhangad village. * Route 2: Phaltan-Dahiwadi-Pusegaon (45 km) + 7 km to Vardhangad village.**At the Base:** Spot the two canons guarding the village entrance! The strong fortification wall is visible from here. **Trek Time:** It's just a 30-minute hike from the base to the fort entrance.

Fort Trio on Satara-Pandharpur Rd: * Kalyangad (Nandgiri), Vardhangad, & Mahimangad. * PLAN: Overnight travel from Mumbai/Pune to start at Kalyangad early morning. Proceed to Vardhangad, Mahimangad, then return via Phaltan. * NOTE: All 3 forts can be visited in one day with smart planning\!
