History & Significance

Built under Kanhoji Angre's regime! Legend says Angre vowed to Goddess Bhagwati: win the battle, build her a great temple, and gift the village. He delivered! A preserved scripture, bearing an inscription (beginning 'श्री भगवती'), proves it. Angre also gifted nearby villages Saalshi, Aachra, Kamte, and Kinjvade to the temple authority.
