Manjarsubha Fort

Fort Highlights: Manjarsubha Hill **Location & Access:** This fort sits on a hill behind Manjarsubha village, naturally protected by shallow valleys (ditches). A narrow patch leads to the base of the fortification. Though the cobbled road is currently shambled, a 15-minute journey by private vehicle gets you to the top. Note: Due to road excavation, entry is currently direct through the west area. **Fort Structure (North-South Spread):** * **Main South Doorway:** Strong, 25' tall, with sentry porches. Enter into a large, wide square court, illuminated by arched windows. out the beautiful ornamental dome on the doorway roof (access via staircase). * **North Doorway:** Exit point, 12' high.**Inside the Fort:**1. **Granaries:** Turn left after entering to find two granaries (3' tall door). Look for the two 2" diameter circular holes on the roof. 2. **Mansion Ruins:** A two-storeyed decrepit building stands nearby, hinting at a grand mansion. See crevices on the walls for lamps. 3. **Water & Entertainment:** * Square tank (likely rainwater harvesting, currently dry) is to the left of the mansion. * Small entertainment stage with stairs, facing a large empty space. An elevated platform opposite the stage provided VIP viewing. * 3 Fountains were here, indicated by square/octagonal pits and copper pipes.**Bastions & Tanks:** * **Octagonal Bastion (Left):** Still standing tall, now shelters a Lord Hanuman temple. * **North End Bastion:** Well-built, 2-storeyed structure. Descend the staircase to a spacious hall (5 curved windows/door exit). A spiral staircase connects floors via a 2x2 foot square hole. 5 water tanks are carved in stone directly below this bastion. * **East Doorway:** Head here to see the 5 water tanks. Beside the intact arch, descend stairs to find a 3x2 carved square room on the right. Below, find large water tanks, including the **Khamb Taake** (stone-roofed, supported by pillars). A 2-storeyed bastion stands just above this tank.**View:** Wambori pass is visible from the fort. The fortification along the border walls is non-continuous and poor in state.
