About Songir (Dhule)
Songir Fort (Dhule): Built on the rocky Sahyadri mountains of Maharashtra. Located in Dhule district, near Laling Fort on the Dhule-Agra highway. It monitored the vital Surat-Burhanpur trade route.

Explore this Fort: Located on a small hill. The entrance is mostly ruins, but an inscription (Shake 1497 / 1575A.D.) once stated, "Ugrasen, son of Mansingh was very brave." Look for pillar remnants! Steps opposite the entrance lead to a water tank and the fort top. From the top, take the right path past a dried well (10 stories deep!) to find a beautiful 14-cornered pond, originally used to store well water. See the remnants of a mansion, bastions, and old water system pipes on the edge.

How to Reach
Getting There: Songir Fort 21 kms from Dhule, right on the Dhule-Agra highway! From Dhule, catch an ST bus (towards Shahada or Dhondhaicha) and alight at Songir junction. Songir village is a 15-minute walk. The fort route starts opposite the Grampanchayat office. 10 minutes to the top!
