**Talgad Fort: Watch Over Roha** Built on the mountain ranges surrounding Roha, Talgad's main purpose was monitoring the Mandad creek, where the Kundalika river meets the Arabian sea. This river was a vital trade route! To protect it, Talgad, Ghosalgad, Avchitgad forts, and Kuda caves were strategically built.

History & Significance
Talgad Fort History: Won by Shivaji Maharaj from Adilshah (1648 AD). Seized by Siddi during Afzalkhan's attack (1659), but later released after Afzalkhan's defeat. Significance: Shivaji Maharaj kept Talgad and 11 other forts in the Purandar pact. Subsequent rulers: Siddi, Bajirao Peshwa I (1735 AD), and General Prathur (1818 AD).
Places to See
Explore this compact fort, running south to north. Enter through the main gate, Hanuman Darwaza, featuring a carved Lord Hanuman sculpture and a water tank. The bastions and fortification wall are intact. At the summit, find a well-preserved two-storey bastion, three water tanks, and a temple structure nearby. The topmost section houses 7 water tanks and the ‘Laxmi Kothar’ storage house. A final bastion sits at the northern tip. Ruins of old mansions and houses are visible throughout the premises. Enjoy views of Ghosalgad fort, Mandad creek, and Kuda caves from the top!

How to Reach
How to Reach the Fort Road Trip Option: Drive to Indapur (128 kms from Mumbai via Mumbai-Goa highway). From Indapur, reach Talagaon (15 kms) by bus or auto. The only fort route starts at Talagaon, leading across a small flat ground to the fort's plateau and main area. Rail Option (Konkan Railway): Catch the 6 am Diva-Madgaon train at Diva Junction. Arrive at Indapur at 9:30 am. Return train from Indapur departs at 3:55 pm. Proceed from Indapur as described above (bus/auto to Talagaon).
