Preparing for Thin Air
You cannot simulate altitude at sea level, but you can build a cardiovascular engine so efficient that it handles the lack of oxygen better.
Training Pillars
- Loaded Step-Ups: Building structural integrity in the knees and glutes.
- Zone 2 Cardio: Long, slow endurance sessions exceeding 90 minutes.
- Core Stability: Essential for carrying a 10kg+ pack all day.
Sample Weekend Grind
"The mountain doesn't care how tired you are. You must prepare for back-to-back heavy days."
- Saturday: 2-hour hike on uneven terrain with a 15kg pack.
- Sunday: 1-hour recovery spin (cycling) keeping heart rate below 135 BPM.
